The Weekend Announces New Album "STARBOY'' - See What Wizkid Has To Say About The Title

Earlier today, The Weeknd announced his follow-up to his 2015 album, Beauty Behind the Madness.The project is titled Starboy



Those who are fans of famous Nigerian artist Wizkid know that the project shares a name with his nickname. While most might accuse The Weeknd for "appropriation," 


The name had become synonymous with the singer, and become a great part of his branding. The biggest artiste in Africa is called Starboy. He also has extended his business model, signing (or cosigned?) Efya, R2bees, and Mr Eazi as a unit to help project the brand.





Wizkid kept it positive and responded to one's fans query about the similarity on Twitter


He was fast to respond to the album title announcement on Twitter. Although he also quickly deleted the tweet, and replaced it with the one below.
